THE GARDENER
SARAH WALKER
Sarah Walkers' first solo exhibition ’the gardener’ is inspired by the simple pleasures of her families kitchen garden:
“As a garden grows, smiles will form, spirits will lift and hearts will blossom.
'The Gardener' is a shout-out (in yarn) to all those who love their gardens.”
Sarah is a Walpole-based textile artist. She primarily embraces knitting as a form of creative expression, allowing her to blend her passion for creativity with her love for traditional craftsmanship.
Through her work, Sarah responds to the natural environment and the joys of country living. Using yarn and the craft of knitting to represent nature provides form and colour challenges. She enjoys breaking a few knitting rules and producing unexpected pieces which showcases her adventurous and innovative spirit in this craft.
Sarah is the co-founder of The Peaceful Bay Beanie Co. and has been a finalist in Little Things Art Prize NSW (2022), WAFTA Hanging by a Thread WA (2020) and Altered States exhibitions WA (2018) and Mandurah Wearable Art (2018/2020).
