Originally from Kuching, Malaysia, Deryck now resides in Perth, WA. By day, he is a veterinarian working predominantly in the field of equine dentistry. By
night, he creates Gyotaku prints. The print subjects are either caught himself or provided by his fishing buddies.
Gyotaku originated in Japan as a means of recording prized catches. Today, it has become a form of art. The subject is thoroughly washed and then dried with a towel. Ink is painted on the fish and excess is dabbed off. Rice Paper or cotton is then placed on top of the subject and rubbed on to make an impression. Details are added after printing.
